Growblock: An Alternative Solution for Indoor Thermal and Visual Comfort Improvement

نویسندگان

چکیده

The vertical garden offers an alternative to meet the needs of green space in a limited urban area with upwards planting method. Its function, among others, includes improving air quality, insulating sound and heat, thus, reducing energy consumption. Growblock, result previous research 2018, combines function interlocking wall block planter several design alternatives that can be used indoors or outdoors. This follow-up will examine potential Growblock as strategy support practice passive designs buildings. Simulation using Revit Insight Plugin was carried out measure amount solar radiation received by wall. initial then explored evaluated incorporating two other parameters have not been developed before, i.e., openings for natural ventilation daylights. former calculated manually, while latter simulated Velux Daylight Visualizer. qualitative comparative methods from various similar literature were formulating modification design. results compared current standards each parameter. proven reduce 53.03%, conventional walls. is due shade planters which protect walls direct exposure. Several stack arrangements also able requirements daylight 1-5%, more than 5% floor area.

Model-adaptive Analysis of Indoor Thermal Comfort

We address the model-adaptive coupling between computational codes for indoor thermal comfort analysis considering different levels of detail in space and time. Starting with a whole-year simulation, significant periods are interactively identified in terms of a coarse thermal comfort analysis. After refining these critical intervals with respect to the spatial resolution, a multi-segment manik...

An Assessment of Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Comfort in Educational Spaces (Case Study: Girls' High Schools in Arak, Iran)

As s‌tudents spend one-third of their time at school, their health, comfort, and productivity are mos‌tly influenced by thermal condition and indoor air quality of classrooms. Regarding that manual window-opening is a common way for providing fresh air in classes and s‌tudents aren't allowed to change their uniform, position or control the windows during the lesson hours, providing thermal comf...

Impact of Manually Controlled Solar Shades on Indoor Visual Comfort

Daylight plays a significant role in sustainable building design. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the impact of manual solar shades on indoor visual comfort. A developed stochastic model for manual solar shades was modeled in Building Controls Virtual Test Bed, which was coupled with EnergyPlus for co-simulation. Movable solar shades were compared with two unshaded windows. Results...
